St. Monica Reminds us that Inviting People Back to Church is ‘An Outreach of Love’

In his latest column for Crux, Father Jeffrey Kirby, a South Carolina priest, reminds us that St. Monica “has endeared herself to believers through the ages as a model and encouragement to pray and labor to bring loved ones back to the faith.”

She interceded for more than ten years for the conversion of her son, Augustine, who eventually stopped sinning and “became a great saint, even a Doctor of the Church, the highest of saints.”

The two saints, whose feast days are celebrated back-to-back this week, “echo a message of hope to everyone who has watched a loved one leave the faith and pray for their return,” Father Kirby writes.
