Special Collection This Weekend for Hurricane Victims

The recent Hurricanes Fiona and Ian have struck hard and caused much damage to Puerto Rico, and the states of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. In addition to over 100 lives lost, the storms have left large areas in utter destruction, which will take months, if not years, to rebuild.

In response to this disaster, Bishop Alfred Schlert has authorized a collection to be taken up in the parishes of the Diocese of Allentown the weekend of Oct. 15-16 to aid in recovery efforts. This will be a cash collection; no special envelope will be provided.

Relief funds contributed to this collection will be forwarded to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and administered through the Bishops’ Emergency Disaster Fund, which will work with Catholic Charities USA and Catholic Relief Services to distribute the funds.
