Diocesan Music Festival Showcases Band and Choral Musicians from Six Catholic High Schools

The 48th Annual Diocesan Music Festival was held Saturday afternoon, Feb. 4, at Notre Dame High School.

Choral and instrumental musicians from six diocesan high schools, chosen by their music directors, performed.

There are 56 members of the 2023 Diocesan Band, and 39 members of the 2023 Diocesan Choir. The day began with a welcome and opening remarks by Mrs. Jaclyn Friel, principal of Notre Dame High School, and Dr. Philip J. Fromuth, Superintendent for Catholic Education.

Bishop Alfred Schlert provided the opening prayer, as well as remarks. The Diocesan Band then took the stage, followed by the Diocesan Chorus, to provide the afternoon’s concerts.

The afternoon's choir soloist was Marcus Rosenstiel of Marian High School, who surprised his parents by dedicating “God Bless the USA” to them. Both his parents served. The band soloist was Billy Burke of Nativity B.V.M. High School.
